A webinar about prison abolition hosted by Humanize Consulting to raise funds for Jamie’s post-incarceration transition.

Humanize Consulting is raising funds for Jamie, released from prison on April 22, 2021, after serving his entire eight-year sentence.Kale, one of Humanize’s Co-Founders, first met Jamie through the Prisoner Correspondence Pen Pal Project. As someone who is deeply committed to abolition, Kale was initially drawn to Jamie as a pen pal because he had mentioned his prison activism.

Now that Jamie has been released, we’d like to help give him a slight head start. Humanize is running our Prison Abolition 101 webinar and will be giving Jamie all the funds raised to help him buy things he needs (like size 16 work boots, he’s a big dude!). We also helped set up this GoFundMe, with 100% of the money going to him: https://gofund.me/d697af3a.

This event is by donation with 100% of funds collected going to Jamie’s post-incarceration transition.

In Canada, it seems obvious to many that the death penalty is barbaric and outdated but it’s hard for us to wrap our brains around the thought that prisons can be described in the same way. For so long, incarceration has been the only option available to us for dealing with so many of our societal problems that we can’t even imagine an alternative.

On Monday, May 3rd, join us for a 90 minute introductory webinar on mass incarceration, the prison industrial complex and how abolishing prisons can change the way we think about crime and criminalized communities.

This session will include a 60 minute presentation,15 minutes of Q&A and a 10 minute talk from Jamie himself!

The event will have closed captioning via Google Slides.
